LITTLE ROCK’S RECORD BIN

THOMPSON TWINS — THE SAINT — 1992

Don’t be fooled by the fact that this is the Thompson Twins — this is classic David Morales House so turn it way the fuck up.

That was a strange sad time for The Thompson Twins almost every remix was ten times better than what showed up on the actual album “Queer”. “Play With Me” showed up on the “Cool World” soundtrack sounding better than the original album tune it was reconstructed from. The various remixes of “Come Inside” done by the band members themselves as Feedback Max sounded better than what showed up on the album.

Then all the David Morales dub versions of “The Saint” from the EP were more listenable with the horrid vocals from the album removed

Basically “Queer” all the way through should have been replaced with edited remixes by all the various DJs who had reconstructed the album songs and they would probably have gone on to have recorded more. Maybe they just needed to quit with all the hands required to keep that drugged out soup going by that point.

Excellent comment Teddy. Very pithy and I couldn’t agree more.

    Thanks

A good friend of mine was this fabulous early Gay DJ from Washington DC who played at (I think it was) Tracks there way way back in the bad old days. Anyway, he played me this early Thompson Twins 12 inch cut from the b-side of one of their extremely hard to find singles “Long Beach Culture”. I enjoyed listening to him reconstructing his early 3 platter style with a definite 80s newwave vibe but spot on funky technique but I still remember that cut was surprisingly good for being The Thompson Twins and all.

Ahhh the dearly departed Tracks. There was nothing in the world quite like having your Ecstasy kick in and then walking past the hamburger stand and smelling the greasy burgers and fries cooking away in the week old Fry-o-lator oil. It made for many a near vomitous dance floor moment for me.

Although I always found the concept of a nightclub with a beach volleyball court to be somewhat intriguing.

Tracks also had the very dubious distinction of employing one of my ex BF’s {Oliver} in the capacity as general manager. And this when Oliver was just 17 years old and not yet able to legally drink in the establishment that he ran!

LOL! Oliver was the manager? Oh my… I used to DJ when my club the Centaur MC did their MAL event there. Yeah, that place seemed always ready to go under even when it was THE SPOT to dance at in the 90s. I swear they never struck me as making their “money” from being a dance club if you know what I mean.
