I hear a lot of the following, even from many Democrats and self-described progressives: “I don’t support gay marriage because marriage is between a man and a woman but if the gays would just call it something else that’d be fine.”
I wonder if the people who take said position really are so excruciatingly retarded that they actually vote against civil rights as a matter of petty semantics, or if its just the lamest cover they can think of because they know they can’t say “government shouldn’t recognize and endorse people living in sin” without being eviscerated in the realm of public discourse.
