Dan Savage commenting upon the fact that almost all the bigots who oppose equal rights for gays are old and will be dead soon or are just plain stooopid. And the only thing upon which they have to rely in order to advance their cause is lies. And knowing as they do that old people and lies are all that they have to hang their hats full of hate on makes all of the bigots and haters very nervous indeed.
And the kids these days? They don’t give a fuck who you love.

I know I might get slammed over this but….after the Maine vote this week I firmly believe the “leaders” in the LGBT community have failed us when it comes to securing rights for gay couples. There is statistical proof that civil unions are much more accepted and would WIN whether brought before a legislature, judge or voters. You don’t go from A to Z on something so controversial overnight and we have sold ourselves short with an “all or nothing” mentality. Truthfully, had a different approach been taken to this issue right now throughout every state and on the federal level civil unions would be in full affect providing all the rights and responsibiities of marriage to gay couples. Instead, we have millions of gay couples throughout the country with no state protections and certainly no chance of federal protections in the near future. If anyone thinks the Dems are going to take up our cause after Tuesday you are living in a fantasy world.

I have to disagree Gregorio, up here in Canada we stuck by our guns and demanded Marriage and we got Marriage.

Like Dan Savage said, the bigots will be dead soon and you will be able to marry!
