{WHAT BIE IS ABOUT}

I'm Scott and I'm a New Yorker now living in Seattle and Bill is my oldest friend who just finished serving an almost 7 year prison sentence for selling meth.

Bill in Exile originally contained letters written between Bill and me while Bill was in prison as well as a bunch of other shit but Bill has, as of late, opted out of contributing and I've just been too lazy to change the name of the blog.
Some of what this site contains IS DEFINITELY NOT work safe and some of it may not be appropriate for those under 18 years of age. Navigate away if you have doubts. And if I've used an image for which you hold the rights and wish me to remove it or credit it please send me a POLITE email and I will be more than happy to do so.

And can I just add, that there are prisons in Scandinavian countries with prison cells that are better equipped and more appealing than this kid’s apartment.

brian, it is in New York if your parents co-sign the lease and can demonstrate that they make anywhere from 70 to 100 times the monthly rent in annual salary.

And with crappy studios renting for $4,000+ a month one needs to hope that one’s parents are doing pretty well.

Scott: I was just thinking that I know LOTS of folks here in NY (and not just kids, either) who would love to have such a large, modern apt. of their own.

After high school I got a job for $65.00 a week in 1960 New York City; a decent starter wage in those days; it included free on-the-premises lunch, free gym, free medical! I heard that rent in the London Terrace apartments started at $125.00 a month; a good address for an impossible price, which maybe was fantasy, but nowadays certainly is Fantasy in NYC.
