THE VIEW FROM AROUND HERE
The nuclear ballistic missile submarine USS Henry M. Jackson {SSBN-730} heads out to sea from US Naval Station Bangor, Washington this past week on January 16th, 2013.
The big mountain in the background is named The Brothers. It’s part of the Olympic Range and is 6,842 feet {2,085 meters} high. Along with Mt. Constance it is one of the most visibly prominent peaks in the range that are easily seen from Seattle and form this city’s western skyline.
If I walk over to the next street from my house I can see the snow capped Brothers on the other side of Puget Sound quite clearly.
