I’M A TAD TIRED TODAY
It was a long weird weekend at the club — what with Halloween falling in the middle of next week and pretty much everyone deciding that because of its placement on the calendar Halloween would last exactly one whole week this year, rather than just one day.
Blue Q
We had 1,800 people come through the club on Saturday alone — and all those folks dancing and in costume really warmed the place up. Also, too; our HVAC was on the fritz so it got REALLY hot and to keep the people cool we opened up all our street facing doors to Broadway and a block party ensued from 8PM until 5AM Sunday.
Our doors open to Broadway at about 4:30 AM with the DJ booth beyond.
Thankfully the club doesn’t have any residential neighbors for at least a block and half. Because the combination of our massive sound system pumping out music, the lights from our lighting package bouncing off the sidewalks and buildings across the street, and dozens of people in costume dancing on the sidewalk pretty much stopped traffic in its tracks.
Our DJs said that it was really pretty fucking magical playing to that big, packed room while the street traffic went past just behind them as they spun.
At one point a group of six drop dead gorgeous boys in police uniform costumes stopped by to hang out and listen to some music from the sidewalk in front of the club and it was several minutes before I realized that I knew one of the “cops” and that he was, in fact, a real cop — as were all the hotties with him.
Then, last night, I went out to Flammable — the West Coast’s longest running House Music event — to show support for my Creative Director Kevin Kauer — aka DJ Nark — who had been invited to DJ the party last night.

Flammable is run by DJ Brian Lyons {a Q resident DJ} and attracts serious House Heads and EDM aficionados and also tends to be a salon for DJs and music industry folks who hang out together, get drunk, dance, and talk shop — so Kevin’s being invited to spin there was a really BFD.
As someone once wrote in describing Flammable:
“Not just anyone gets to play under the Flammable banner — you’ve got to earn it, and once you earn it, you’ve got to bring it.”
Oh, and I got photobombed by a drag queen while trying to get a picture taken of me with my friend Almond Brown — who is also one of Q’s resident DJs.
So, as I said — I’m a tad tired right now from all the action of the past week and glad to have a couple of days off today and tomorrow.
Then on Wednesday it starts all over again.
I need a nap.

I have to believe that, as tiring as the opening and ensuing days have been, Q has been an enormous satisfaction for you. Clearly, you had a vision for the club that has spoken pretty powerfully to Seattle.

Note To Self: Go to Q for Halloween next year.
