I differ slightly — I think they CARE about the deficit– it is bad, shameful, wasteful — but they think that YOU add to it by your indolence and stupidity, and they resent having to give their money to pay for you.
In other words, “You can eat cake, but we don’t want to buy it for you”
Liberals often totally misjudge republicans — they do not so much hate you as disdain you for not being the way they imagine themselves to be.
It’s snobbery, which allows them to tune out fairness.

Also known as “Christianists”–as in “I’m a Christian because I go to church and make sure everyone else knows it and you can’t possibly be a Christian if you disagree with my political beliefs because you’re probably a Socialists, or a homo so that means you’re CERTAINLY not a Christian.”
