QUOTE OF THE DAY
“At this point, there can be no doubt as to where each candidate stands on the issues they have chosen to make a part of this campaign. (Don’t expect to hear much about gun control, or drones, or poverty, or the constitutional amendment to reverse Citizens United.) The only truly spontaneous thing that can happen in one of these debates is a catastrophic blunder of a kind that neither one of these men ever has made in his public life, the president because he’s walked a fine line on what he says since he was a teenager, and Romney because risk never has been his business. If, afterwards, you are told that one of these men was better at being something he’s not than the other guy was, you are being conned. Pay it no heed and turn to Honey Boo Boo.”
Charlie Pierce on what to expect from the presidential debates and the bloviators who will cover it.

Obama isn’t perfect, but compared to the alternative…
