Hey little sister who's your Superman?

SOUND AND FURY

This was taken last night during a sound and lighting check at Q.

Sorry about the sound quality — but I was standing right next to one of the massive Funktion One speaker stacks when I took this.

Totally amazing. Scott, you should be very proud to see this come from an idea to the finished product. The last time I was even in a gay bar was about 30 years ago when I realized that I was no longer young and cute ( I couldn’t stand the rejection). 30 years ago state of the art lighting was a disco ball and some lights under a plexi-glass dance floor and so so sound. What you have today would quench my fear of rejection and amble on in to Q if I was ever on the west coast. Congratulations on the opening and success for every day in the future. You earned it!

Did everything work as expected on the first run-through of the sound system? Anything need to be, er, tweaked? (Granted, the word “tweaked” is probably not appropriate to use in connection with public nightclubs these days) . . .

Did you get youself custom made earplugs?
You’ll need them, to keep your ears working if you are going to be present there multiple hours on a regular basis. (Even if the system is set to remain below the legal audio limit (if the state of Washington has that)
I’ve worked as theater technician- light/set designer all over Europe, USA and Canada.
Feedback accidents will happen during soundchecks, just when you pas in front of the midrange speakers (the most lethal) after surviving in the USMC that long, don’t become a social invalid at your own club!
Also still use them plugs on motorbiketrips on motorways, where audio in the helmet climbs to 120 db, even with best helmets. as soon as you pas 120 km/h (which may be illegal in the USA anyway)
I find that as everybody yells in your ear with that kind of music levels, you’re fine with keeping conversation with earpolugs in near/around any dancefloor anyway.
