SUCKY BLOGGING AHEAD
I’m gonna apologize in advance for the sorry state of the blog over the next couple of days.
The club opens to the public on Saturday and tomorrow we’ve got about 600 people coming in for an invitation only preview party.
I’ve got Hot House Brent and Hot House Steven AND my ex BF Patrick all arriving on the same flight today, followed by my entire family arriving from Kentucky later tonight.
This afternoon we’re putting our staff through a pre-opening, 3 hour long stress test with about 50 invited guests who will act as customers — ordering drinks, breaking glasses, making a mess, and generally acting the fools in order for us to see how our entire team works under pressure.
So things are gonna be a bit light here for a couple of days.
But keep checking back because I’ll be posting pictures whenever I can.
Scott

Relax a bit, and enjoy yourself. What a Rush! Opening your own Club. I can’t even imagine it. I hope it’s a smash.
September 6th, 2012 at 6:18 am
Best of luck Scott, thanks for sharing the buildout.
September 6th, 2012 at 6:21 am
I will survive this dire time of BIE blogging.
Congratulations on all the hard work and planning and attention to details leading up to this weekend. I’m sure it will be a sublime pay off when you and your dad are enjoying some family burbon amidst the beautiful chaos that is Seattlelands fiercest dance venue. I truly wish I could have made it up for the opening but you know, we got this little street fair coming up. Twirl the floor a couple times, once for me, don’t spill your drink, and own that shit!
I look forward to pics of all your future ex-boyfriends/patrons and the ones you used your VIP privileges on to persuade to ‘pose with the owner.’
Best of luck. Burn the house down!
September 6th, 2012 at 6:49 am
Good luck/ break a leg! I’m sure the club will
be a hit and a great new destination when visiting Seattle!
Very exciting, try to enjoy it, maybe film the process to enjoy later when you can step away.
September 6th, 2012 at 7:30 am
Many wishes for Great Success, Scott!

Wishing you and all involved with opening Q that it is a very successful and fun filled weekend. Looking forward to seeing many great pictures of the club and hoping it is packed to the rafters.
September 6th, 2012 at 9:39 am
Hey Scott,
As a faithful reader for six or seven years and following your club updates closely, I look forward to being there Saturday night for the Grand Opening. I assume you will be entertaining VIPs that night so I realize there is little chance of getting to say Hello in person but know I am there supporting you and rooting on your success.

September 6th, 2012 at 9:50 am
All the best Scott for a very successful opening and continued success in the future.
Having the future hottest club in Seattle is a blast.
“In bocca lupo!”
September 6th, 2012 at 9:52 am
I so would have been happy to help break the place in with spilling drinks, breaking glasswear, and making the bartenders figure out my slurred drink orders. Just like any other Friday night….

Good Luck Scoot – go forth and enjoy!
Q (Cue)…… Scott’s great adventure. Best of luck and enjoy as much as you can. Don’t forget to rest, too.
Take good care and I look forward to the stories

I hope you have included in your scenario analysis two drunk Drag Queens fighting over turf and ripping each others wigs off. And I hope you have the forethought to video tape it and post it on your blog. ‘Cuz you know it will eventually happen.
September 6th, 2012 at 12:11 pm
Scott: Have the time of your life! Enjoy every moment of it.
Don’t worry, I’ll keep Oliver otherwise occupied.

What everyone else said……………….
And thanks for being here every day, when the you could have brushed us off to worry about details of the club.
I am sure all your friends and relatives will love Q, after, of course, expecting the best from you. However, I would bet that Barbara will be the only woman guest ever to wear St John to the club.
September 6th, 2012 at 2:10 pm
Good luck on your opening, I wish you a very successful venture! Can’t wait to fly out and try it on for size.
September 6th, 2012 at 2:18 pm

I’m actually excited about Q’s opening! I haven’t partied up on Cap Hill for the past 4 years. Hope the staff can handle the stresses that are coming their way! See you soon!

Best of Luck on your opening. I can’t wait to see Q next time I am in Seattle.

Cheers to your new club!

And Scott Smith finally proves to everyone that he’s not a woman.
The old ‘I can’t multi-task because I’m a man’ argument finally gets its airing.
Go on then, Smith boy. Go off and be massively successful (and don’t bother coming back unless you are). However, were this blog written by Sheila Smith, I think we all know that she’d have opened the best club in the Northern hemisphere, kept her in-laws happy, written a blog, offered a new recipe for chocolate chip cookies, suckled all the mother’s-milk deprived orphans in Malawi (apart from the ones who know Madonna) and still offered up a 15-point plan for re-awakening the US manufacturing base while still cooking up a last-minute meal for Lucy Riccardo’s husband’s boss.
Obviously, I wish you all the success, good fortune and good luck in the world today, Scott. But SHEILA Smith would still have found some way to keep on blogging… And offered a spare tit to a starving Malawian.
Guess you don’t have enough spare tits to go round.

I think you know how excited I am for you! This project has unfolded over the past couple of years and I couldn’t be happier or more excited for anyone on the planet right now.
I will see you and Q soon!!
September 6th, 2012 at 4:52 pm
CONGRATS!!!! I can’t believe it’s finally opening. Can’t wait to see the pics and hear all the stories. Have a great opening!!!!
September 6th, 2012 at 5:24 pm
GOOD LUCK!!
September 6th, 2012 at 5:31 pm
Wishing you and your hand-picked team all the very best for your pre-opening and the public opening and for the exciting months to come as Seattle learns how it’s done. I can’t wait to hear all about it.
September 6th, 2012 at 5:31 pm
Congratulations, its been a long time coming. Break a leg. Enjoy it, after all the hard work you deserve every success.
September 6th, 2012 at 5:44 pm
Your blogging is NEVER sucky. Take care of yourself in these chaotic days, take a deep breath and ENJOY the results of your enormous efforts.
September 6th, 2012 at 6:48 pm
best of luck….and try to have fun.
September 6th, 2012 at 7:05 pm
Scott, hope the club’s opening will be THE dance event of the year! Something tells me that your place will be place where everyone wants to see and be seen.
Buena Suerte!!
September 6th, 2012 at 9:42 pm
Best of LUCK. You really deserve this! Wish I were there physically but this isn’t half bad following the story.
In pride Tim

Scott, Wishing you all the best with your new enterprise. If I get to SEA I’ll have to check it out. Luv your blog.
September 7th, 2012 at 7:10 am
This is the beginning of a new and enthralling chapter in your career as a club owner and distiller. In the words of the Second World War’s 442nd Regimental Combat Team, “Go for broke.”
September 7th, 2012 at 7:26 am
Congratulation Scott-enjoy the ride!
September 7th, 2012 at 7:38 am
Yay, excitement!
Best of luck and enjoy yourself
Hope the new staff do really, really well.
September 7th, 2012 at 7:57 am
I think Michael’s contingency planning suggestion of the drag queens embroiled in a knock-down drag-out fight is definitely one worth staging . . . just to be sure your staff can handle an outbreak of extreme fierceness on the dance-floor or around the bar. Wishing you a big and hearty congratulations to you for making this happen. And when you have proven the formula works, please consider branching out and opening Q’s elsewhere. The sorry state of gay dance bars in this country needs to be addressed and you are the man to do it. Cheers to you and may the effort be repaid a million-fold.
September 7th, 2012 at 10:30 am
Actually, Scott’s blog can be very sucky. The good and very literal kind of sucky. Sometimes there are sucky videos on this blog too with lots of sucking, I might add
September 7th, 2012 at 10:31 am
Hope you went with the GO GO BOYS, Good Luck!!!
September 7th, 2012 at 10:36 am
Best wishes from the right coast, ya delightfully wonderful cantankerous man!
September 7th, 2012 at 12:30 pm
I truly HATE when I don’t get my daily (and often) injection of Scott and I’ve been wanting to talk to you about changing (yourself and your internal clock) to an east coast schedule (even though you live on the west) so I can get my needed fill of you when I awaken at 5:00 AM. I know this blog is yours and as you have said “All about you,” but it’s gotta be all about me too. Okay? It’s important that you see this my way.
BUT I DIGRESS……
I just really want to wish you mazel and naches with your new and exciting venture!!!!
I hope all goes swimmingly and that each light exquisitely and impeccably hits each facet of each mirror on each of the four disco balls and that the light bathes you in joy, happiness, and success!
Maybe one day I’ll be in Seattle again and I’ll be able to see all the magnificence for myself.
September 7th, 2012 at 8:26 pm
Good Luck! On your Grand Debut. I will definitely be heading to the club next trip to Seattle.
