I want to say ‘rest in peace’ or ‘my deepest condolences to his family and loved ones’, or even ‘thank you for your service’ but they all seem hollow and inadequate. That our young people are still dying in Iraq and Afghanistan, for absolutely nothing, is heartbreaking. Godammit! Enough already!

Again I say, when will we get the fuck out of that hell-hole country. Even the people we are training are turning their guns on American and other country’s troops. Another young man who gave his life, another hero gone. God bless his family for giving us this brave young man.
When I think back, at his age I had two tours in Vietnam, without a “physical” scratch. And here we are a century later still fighting senseless wars fought by brave young men.
But thankfully there are still “brave young men and women” to do our dirty jobs, I wish them a safe return as soon as possible.
