READER COMMENT OF THE WEEK
“If you think all people in Texas really have this mentality, then you are a backwoods yokel from nowhere. Following your logic, Washington state should secede and become a white Arian nation because of the fucked up white supremesist assholes in the Pacific Northwest. you are off my favorites list dudeass.”
Posted by badlandsboy in reaction to this post about Texas.
To which I responded thusly:
First of all badlandsboy — the word is spelled Aryan, not Arian.
Second of all — the word is spelled supremacist, not supremesist.
And lastly — thanks for proving my point about Texans.
I didn’t even see the point in bringing to his attention that words that begin a sentence generally have their first letter capitalized. Because really. . . why bother?
Also, too; “dudeass” ?
badlandsboy protesting my assertion that most Texans are mental defectives.

Is Washington really a hotbed of Arianism Scott? I thought the Trinitarians had quashed that heresy a thousand years ago? Someone call the Inquisition!

My husband is Texan, and he’d agree with you. Most smart ones leave. My guy left 30 years ago, the instant he could.
There are exceptions – Austin is full of weird and smart. Bigger cities have bigger populations, and therefore the small percentage on non-stupid works out to more people. And there are the odd non-dipshits, who will readily admit that they pay for the generally lower cost of living or their low gumption to leave for whatever reason with large amounts of dealing with stupid.

Mayhaps, we should add “thin-skinned” to the list of descriptors for Texans.

Love it! This Texas twit Badlandsboy thinks he’s gonna get up in our bloggers grill and what happens? He gets bitch slapped to within an inch of his life for being the dumb shit that he clearly is.
Badlandsboy, you’ve been served.

Why dedicate an entire entry in this blog to such obvious stupidity? I’m not complaining, I’m all for a Gregory House-style torrent of insults, especially when directed at those unequipped to defend themselves, but in the past these dipshidiots have simply found their comments deleted or unposted altogether.

Sheesh! What a maroon!

As someone from Texas, I can say that many of the people who live here (especially in smaller cities/towns) have a backwards way of thinking. However, it is also true that not everybody thinks that way. For example, I live in a pretty conservative town where stupidity is everywhere. However, for the most part it’s really not that bad. Out of all the posts I’ve seen on here that feature people with misspelled signs and messages of hate, I can say that I’ve never witnessed such events in my town. What I have seen is a Catholic priest deliver an amazing speech about tolerance, a Protestant church send out a flyer speaking of how everyone is accepted regardless of anything that may set them apart, and gay and lesbian owned/managed businesses that are extremely successful. So yes, as you will see most anywhere you go there will be a fair share of stupid. Sometimes you’re only seeing the bad instead of the good though.

The Washington/Oregon area is hardly a bastion of Aryan hate. In fact, they are quite liberal. I think that Texan twit got the area confused with states like the Dakotas, Montana and Idaho.

@Bryan — the problem is that the good folks (percentage open to debate) led the idiots set the tone — GWB, Perry, the guys who dragged the Black man behind the pickup, or the ultra-hypocrites of Dallas.(witness the trashy series GCB this Spring)
Moreover, TEX-ASS was the only large State where the 18-24 range polled a majority against Gay marriage. All those nice Gays are not doing a good job of convincing their neighbors.
There seems to be pride in holding on to the 19th Century. (the 2nd half only, because for the first half, your hellhole was part of Mexico)

I sense there may have been failings in his edumacation …

You’re right Brandon. I suspect the fact that he’s clearly borderline illiterate makes it hard for him to read and understand place names on maps.

OMG I so thought of you today when I had a guy from Texas come in my store demanding that I give him a replacement radio-controlled helicopter….even though his receipt was 11 months old, he didn’t buy a protection plan, and couldn’t tell me what exactly was wrong with his! Do you know that idiot had the nerve to say to me “you people in Ohio sure aren’t very friendly or helpful!” WTF?!?! Next time buy a protection plan and REGISTER it when we tell you it is in your best interest…otherwise take your ass back to Texas, become your own country, and stay the hell out of mine asshole!

*slap* You go Scott! Send that boy back under the bridge where all trolls belong.

A friend of mine described living in Austin is like living in West Berlin when it was surrounded by communist East Germany. Only difference is they are surrounded by rednecks instead of a wall.

Brandon – Even Washington & Oregon have logical divides, and in this case, it is the Cascades. Both Eastern Washington and Eastern Oregon are NOT the same as the west side of the Cascades. Stick to the I-5 corridor, and do not go near the coastal communities either.

I am from Texas. I have lived here my entire life. I will not defend stupidity, nor will I defend some of the class acts that have come from the state of Texas; however, I will say that not everyone in Texas is stupid, or that the entire state should be condemned for the stupidity of some of them. Yes, Texas is easily one of the most conservative states in the Union. But some places in Texas, i.e. Houston, Austin, and Dallas, are not all that bad to live in actually.
So don’t hate unless you’ve actually been here. Then you can hate all you want.
