Paul Krugman in the New York Times earlier this week on Mitt Romney’s pathological lying.
I like the idea put forth by Jonathan Bernstein that’s Mitt’s lying is nothing more than lazy mendacity – untruths based on “the indifference to any fact-checking,” and “the insistence on continuing to use a lie long after it’s been definitively debunked.”

I honestly think its the end of the ludicrous christian rights power in American politics. its clear the American media and public have developed a much stronger(and long overdue) sense of cynicism since the bush years and the GOP are lagging way behind. They’ll modernise and regroup with a more liberal social agenda and win the next election!

No, it is not the campaign which is lazy, it’s the Republican masses who will not make the effort of checking the bullshit. And the American populist medias are accomplice. That could not happen in Great Britain, Scandinavia, Germany nor Switzerland where part of the press is devoted to digging. And now I have a second thought on Romney’s gaffe in London. While it was not diplomatic, he didn’t screw up as far as his voters were concerned. They want to hear that everything is better in the States. They need it more than ever!

Whatever idealized planet you are on, I suggest getting out to the real world, where churches and rich old assholes control much of the vote.
