Did you ever see the video for the Courier project MS was working on? It created a similar *WANT* reaction. I was so sad when it was cancelled. If Surface is produced, I’ll sit it out until the second generation which is what I do with Apple gizmos.

The surface has come a long way in five years: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZrr7AZ9nCY
It may be Microsoft’s best seller since the Zune! Maybe someday it will be a good as the iPad was when it was released.

@Craig, except for the fact that the Surface from 5 years ago has nothing whatsoever to do with the one announced this week — other than the name.
Also, too; if you know anything about either the Apple product or the new Microsoft one you’d know that the iPad is a “consumer” device whereas the new Surface is a “creator” device.
Read that as the Microsoft product being an actual real live computer while the Apple product is not much more than a souped up iPod Touch.

“creator” device. **chuckle** And Apple only makes stuff for designers and graphic artists and Microsoft is all business. Any other cliches you’d like to toss out?

That is one sexy, sexy commercial for a sexy, sexy machine.

“while the Apple product is not much more than a souped up iPod Touch”
Which is what people said right out of the gate, like that was somehow a bad thing.

Sure thing Cowboy Denver — here’s a cliche for ya. . . .people who use the word Cowboy or Top or Cop or Fireman in the screen names and are then too challenged to pair it with anything other than the name of their home town.
